Free Download Visual Studio 2010 and .NET Framework 4 Beta 1
In a recent article, there were introduced the next version of Microsoft development tools suite and platform: Visual Studio 2010 and the .NET Framework 4.0. Visual Studio 2010 provides improvements and new features, as compared with the previous versions, such as Office Development functionality, through the possibility of multiple Office Solutions deployment in one package, which will appear as a single entry in the Add/Remove Programs in Windows XP or Programs and Features in Windows Vista.
In the same time, according to the official Visual Studio 2010 description, “Visual C# and Visual Basic languages continue to evolve towards feature parity, strive to simplify programming and deployment with the Microsoft Office APIs, and allow easy interop to dynamic languages. Visual F# is a new programming language which combines functional, object-oriented and explorative programming to provide a succinct, expressive and scalable language for .NET. In the tools space, Visual Studio 2010 offers greater support for Test-Driven Development, where tests are written before product code as an iterative approach to software design.”
Even more, the multi-targeting feature of Visual Studio 2010 will allow you to specify the version of .NET Framework required for your application. An immediate benefit of this feature is represented by the fact that one can use the current version of Visual Studio to make projects designated to run with earlier versions of the .NET Framework.
On the other hand, the Parallel Extensions existing into the .NET Framework 4 and the Concurrency Runtime for Visual C++ 2010 will permit developers to deliver parallel applications that will scale efficiently as the numbers of cores and processors increase.
Visual Studio 2010 and .NET Framework 4 Beta 1 are available for free download from MSDN.
