Windows Vista And Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2 RTM
On 25 May 2009, Microsoft has made available for download the DVD ISO image containing the RTM version of the Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2. It delivers all of the updates already existing into Service Pack 1, therefore simplifying deployment for consumers, developers and IT professionals through the support for new types of hardware and hardware related standards.
The update of both Windows client and server can be performed in a more efficient manner, based on a single service pack: “Service Pack 2 for Windows Server 2008 and Windows Vista (SP2) is an update to Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 that supports new kinds of hardware and emerging hardware standards, and includes all updates delivered since SP1. SP2 simplifies administration by enabling IT administrators to deploy and support a single service pack for clients and servers.”
The SP2 DVD ISO image is provided in five languages: English, German, French, Japanese, or Spanish. In order to be able to deploy the Service Pack 2 on one of the supported operating systems (Windows Server 2008 SP2 for x86, x64 and IA-64 platforms and Windows Vista for x86 and x64 platforms) Service Pack 1 is a prerequisite.
If you did not know, the RC version of SP2 is time-limited software and as a consequence, it will no longer work after May 1, 2010, and must be eliminated before the RTM version of the service pack is installed.
