Adobe Labs has just released Adobe Flash Catalyst, a tool capable to add graphical user interfaces to the artwork made with Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator and to convert the static graphics files into interactive SWF projects. Primarily, Adobe Flash Catalyst is intended for designers, who does not know nothing about coding. As you already guessed, the transformation of a PSD file to SWF can be made automatically, without specifically writing code.

The SWF file format allows the easy deployment of vector graphics, text, video, and sound over the Internet, being supported by Adobe Flash Player and Adobe AIR. Therefore, designers will find more convenient to add interactivity to their current Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator projects in order to present them online in an intuitive manner for the users.

Adobe Flash Catalyst allows you to add graphics, typography and 3D effects to any type of design, such as ads or web portofolios. Even more, the exported code representing the functional user experience can be easily integrated with RIAs (Rich Internet Applications) built with Adobe Flash Builder 4.

Adobe Flash Catalyst is powered by the open source Flex 4 framework and is available for free download only for Windows and Mac OS X users. At Adobe Labs there are available many resources for those of you who want to learn how to efficiently use Adobe Flash Catalyst.
