GeForce/ION Driver 186.08 Beta Was Released
NVIDIA has released in beta a new driver for GeForce 6, 7, 8, 9, 100 and 200-series desktop GPUs and ION GPU: GeForce/ION Driver 186.08, designed for Windows 7 or Windows Vista (64-bit) platforms. It supports all of the new DirectX APIs (GPU-accelerated) in Windows 7: DirectX Compute, Direct2D, DirectWrite and DXVA-HD.
According to GeForce/ION Driver 186.08 release notes, the driver has a lot of bugs fixed as compared with the previous version. It installs PhysX System Software version 9.09.0428 and adds support for Ambient Occlusion, a new feature of NVIDIA Control Panel capable to deliver an increased 3D gaming realism only to GeForce GPUs.
GeForce/ION Driver 186.08 also extends GPU hardware acceleration in case of NVIDIA Video Encoding library to GPUs with less than 32 cores. There are many applications that are using NVIDIA Video Encoding library, such as CyberLink PowerDirector 7, Nero Move it 1.5, Loilo SuperLoiloScope MARS or CyberLink MediaShow Espresso.
In the same time, users will notice an accelerated performance for several 3D games, like The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, Fallout 3, Far Cry 2 and more. GeForce/ION Driver 186.08 is available for free download from NVIDIA website.
