Bing API 2.0 Comes To Project Silk Road
The tools and services included into the Project Silk Road from Microsoft have the role to provide webmasters the possibility to enhance their website traffic and earn more money. Alongside adCenter Publisher, Webmaster Center, the Custom Web Error Toolkit, Excel Add-in for adCenter, Instant Answers and Video Syndication services and Virtual Earth API, now Project Silk Road includes the new Bing Application Programming Interface (API) version 2.0.
Bing API allows developers to create web applications capable to find information published over the Internet, to display certain ads, translate text content and more.
The Bing API functionality is associated with various SourceTypes, the sources of information accessible through the API. For example, a SourceType could be news, video, ads or related search content.
Practically, the Bing API is a redesigned version of the former Microsoft’s Live Search API, providing multiple protocols, like JSON, XML and SOAP.
The creation of an application based on Bing API has only a few steps: after the selection of the necessary SourceTypes and the output protocol, then the desired customizations can be easily performed. In order to access the Bing API service, first you will have to create an AppID.
A notable feature of the Bing API version 2.0 is represented by the fact that it is strongly typed, offering many different categories of results. The applications based on Bing API are allowed to send an unlimited number of requests to the API (the traffic is unlimited).
