Google Books On Your Website
Google Books is a web based service which allows you to interact through a browser with scanned content from printed books. Google has recently rolled out seven new features for this service, in order to make easier the reading, searching and sharing of your favorite books published on Google Books website.
On the main book navigation toolbar, there was introduced a button labeled Link. By clicking on this button, you will get the link pointing to the currently read book and the HTML code necessary to embed the book in a website as a preview.
Practically, the sharing options for any book are flexible, as it is shown in a recent post on Google Books blog:“It’s a lot like the embed tag that makes it so easy to share YouTube videos. Programmers comfortable with API tools could accomplish this via our Embedded Viewer API, but this new solution is much easier for everyone to use.”
The books search mechanism was also improved. Now, you will get more context around the search term and in the same time, the results can be sorted by their relevancy.
What you can also get by using Google Books service:
-Thumbnail view - an overview of all the pages in a public domain book or in a magazine. Clicking on a thumbnail image will take you to that page in the reading view (available for “full view” books).
-Contents drop-down menu - allows you to go directly to certain chapters within the book
-Plain Text Mode – the books available in full view can be displayed as HTML text
-Page Turn Button
-Improved Book Overview Page
The Google Books web based service is free to use for anyone. You will need only a modern web browser in order to enjoy Google Books service benefits.
