Macpup Opera: The Fastest Child Of Puppy Linux
The latest release of Macpup Opera Linux distribution, a derivative of Puppy Linux with a graphical user interface similar with Mac OS X GUI, will change the way in which you think about using Linux. From my point of view, Macpup Opera is the fastest Linux distribution as compared with others based on Enlightenment 17 desktop manager. All windows, even the ones corresponding to resource intensive applications and with animation effects and transitions turned on, open before you blink, practically instantaneously.
Macpup Opera Linux distribution is based on Ttuuxxx’s 4.2 version 2 Deeper thought (an up-to-date version of Puppy Linux 4.2.
According to the release notes, it is composed of dbus 1.2.4 and Enlightenment e17 desktop version 0.17.999.060 ( librsvg 2.26.0), both of them compiled and installed from source. For the Internet surfing activities, you can use Opera 9.64 browser, compiled by Ttuuxxx.Works with Xorg and Xvesa video drivers.
You will also discover that Macpup Opera provides all of the latest e17 themes and backgrounds. In the same time, there is an option on the exit menu to switch back to jwm.
Like Puppy Linux 4.2, Macpup delivers the same software utilities and also is capable to run entirely in RAM. Regarding the overall performance, notable features are the high speed of response for any type of command and the RAM management system efficiency. In an IDLE state, the occupied amount of RAM is less than 50 MB, therefore Macpup Opera Linux could perform in optimal conditions on older computers having only 128 MB RAM.
