Snowbird Could Be Better Than Windows Explorer
Sometimes, Windows Explorer could not offer the entire file management set of features needed when you are on the road. A free and lightweight alternative for Windows Explorer is Snowbird, an easy to use portable file manager. The Snowbird 7.0 distribution archive has just 267 KB, while the executable file still delivers many practical features, like integrated file search, file copy function or mouse gestures.
The notable characteristic of Snowbird 7.0 software is represented by the possibility of fast browsing, even in the case of large folders or network resources. The navigation through the existing files is enhanced by bookmarks and Vista-style breadcrumb navigation.
The file copy process can be performed quickly disregarding the amount of data copied. The skip errors and pause file transfer options are also available.
The search mechanism included into the graphical user interface through a search form will allow you to rapidly find files, folders or files content.
According to the Ghacks review of Snowbird 7.0, this software is faster than Windows Explorer, but the drag and drop feature is missing:”The overall speed of Snowbird is fast, faster than that of Windows Explorer especially when navigating in network shares and large local folders. There is however one aspect that is not well designed. The only way to copy or move files is to mark them, right-click and select the appropriate option from the menu. In other words: Drag and drop is not supported.”
The latest version of Snowbird software is available for free download for Windows users from the publisher’s official website.
