Gmail Labeling System Was Updated
Gmail users may be familiar with the emails labeling system, an useful feature for efficiently organizing messages inside your account. The Gmail labels allow you to group messages under certain categories for finding them faster. Practically, this feature is similar with common “email messages directories”, but approached from a simpler point of view. Recently, the Gmail labeling system was updated and now it provides the labels (email messages categories) in the left side of the window, options to manage labels through drag and drop, as well as the possibility to hide individual labels.
Now, you will find the existing Gmail messages labels above the chat list, grouped with Inbox, Drafts, Chats and other system labels.
The labels which are not frequently used are automatically hidden, but you are in total control to show the desired labels from the corresponding drop down menu or via the Gmail Settings area.
The labels can be applied to selected messages in your Inbox by drag and drop (and reverse, is possible to drag and drop a certain email message to an existing label).
The update performed upon the Gmail messages labeling system is indeed a step further in the process of Inbox organizing. Except for users of the Arabic, Hebrew, or Urdu versions of Gmail, where the labels are situated on the right side of the browser window, this update marks the end of Right-side Labels, the old experimental Gmail Labs feature.
