Google Friend Connect Is Available In 47 Languages
Google Friend Connect, the free service which allows you to create a social network around any website, now is available in 47 new languages. As a consequence, the social features added to an existing website through Google Friend Connect, can be provided to the visitors into their own languages.
The owner of a website is allowed to set the preferred language for the Google Friend Connect service. In the same time, the Google Friend Connect social service page can be viewed in your own language (if it is available).
In an article published on Google Official Blog, Sami Shalabi, Technical Lead, Google Friend Connect, explain the advantages of the service translation: “Better yet, you can now choose the language of your site (which can be different for each of your sites). Once selected, most Google-created gadgets and any translated third party gadgets on your site will automatically render in that language. This ensures that the Friend Connect gadgets are better integrated into your site and easily understood by your visitors.”
All 47 new languages supported by Google Friend Connect service are: “Arabic, Bengali, Bulgarian, Catalan, Chinese, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Filipino, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Gujarati, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Kannada, Korean, Latvian, Lingala, Lithuanian, Malay, Malayalam, Marathi, Norwegian, Oriya, Persian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Swedish, Tamil, Telugu, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, Vietnamese.”
Since Google Friend Connect was launched, it has been periodically updated with new features, such as the integration of different user authentication methods and of other social networking services (Twitter, Netlog). Currently, over 5 million websites are using Google Friend Connect service for their communities.
