iPhone 3.0 Has Google Search With My Location
The My Location feature provided alongside Google Map service will automatically display in compatible web applications your current location status. After the recent addition of My Location support for Chrome and Firefox browsers, now Google has also launched Search with My Location for iPhone 3.0. It will help you to perform searches of local objectives much easier.
If you want to turn on this feature, just open the Safari web browser on your iPhone and tap the link existing on the homepage.
In an article published on Google Mobile Blog, Joshua Siegel, Product Manager, Google Mobile Team, explained how to use the Google Search with My Location feature on your iPhone:
“When you tap on the “update” link, your location will be updated and displayed right there on the homepage. Whenever you want to refresh your location, just tap the “update” link. Testing this in New York, my search for “jazz clubs” returned a handful of places within walking distance.”
The user privacy is protected, because Google won’t use its location in search, unless the user explicitly opts in. The My Location feature on Google Search page for iPhone 3.0 can be disabled from the Preferences area, situated at the bottom of the homepage.
Currently Google Search with My Location is available only in English (US and UK), but support for more languages will be rolled out in the near future. iPhone 3.0 users can also search the web with My Location from within Google Mobile App.
