Microsoft has just announced the availability of Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac Service Pack 2 (12.2.0), which contains many improvements intended to increase stability, security and performance of all applications existing in the Office suite. In addition, the Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac Service Pack 2 comes with a new application called Microsoft Document Connection. It allows you to manage files hosted on a SharePoint site or on Microsoft Office Live Workspace.

You will be pleased to discover many new features in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint 2008 for Mac after the installation of Service Pack 2. For example, now PowerPoint 2008 for Mac provides you the ability to author custom path animations, add animated GIF images in slideshows and more.

Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac Service Pack 2 will add the main following improvements to your Office suite:

-Office 2008 applications will no longer exit unexpectedly when you open or use the applications.
-Setup Assistant displays a message when an invalid product key is used.
-Spell checking is improved when International System Preferences is set to Austrian or German input methods.
-Text box and the custom tab stops on a ruler align on a PowerPoint slide.
-New controls for changing the alignment of text on chart elements.

Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac Service Pack 2 can be obtained via AutoUpdate or from the Microsoft website. The system requirements are: Mac OS X version 10.4.9 (Tiger) or a later version of Mac OS, Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac 12.1.0 Update. Those of you who did not have installed Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac, it is available for download as free trial for 30 days.
