Google Wave Expects The First 100,000 Users
Google Wave is the new Internet based communication and collaboration method from Google, which mixes in a single service the principles of email, chat and online document editing and sharing, enabling people to work together with richly formatted text, photos, videos, maps, and more. Starting with September 30th, 2009, this service will be extended beyond developers: 100,000 users will be invited to the preview of Google Wave.
The official announcement was made by Dan Peterson, Product Manager, Google Wave:”In other news: this morning we announced that we plan to start extending the Google Wave preview beyond developers on September 30th. This will take place on wave.google.com rather than the separate “sandbox” instance we are currently using, and we plan to involve about 100,000 users. In addition to the developers already using Wave, we will invite groups of users from the hundreds of thousands who offered to help report bugs when they signed up on wave.google.com.”
Developers have already created various prototypes based on Google Wave APIs, such as “Groupy-the-bot”, that enables users to create groups and manage their own subscriptions or “Waves in WordPress”, a tool made to simplify the publishing of waves in a post or page on WordPress blog platform.
Google will further improve the speed, stability and usability of Google Wave, which could become in the near future a reference communication tool for majority of Internet users. A complete review of the current version of the Google Wave service can be found here.
