Facebook Connect Internationalization Was Extended
On Facebook Connect enabled websites, Facebook users can easily share content on their wall and authenticate to the respective websites to post comments based on the Facebook account data. Since its launch in December, 2009, Facebook Connect has been implemented in more than 15000 sites, devices and applications worldwide. Now, as the entire Facebook website, Facebook Connect will be available in 64 languages and locales, this milestone marking the official extension of its degree of internationalization.
On Facebook Developer Blog, James Leszczenski explains the advantage of the extension of Facebook Connect internationalization: “Developers who’ve implemented Facebook Connect, including those who have installed social widgets like the Fan Box, now have the ability to decide in which language they want their Facebook Connect features rendered. For example, Bild, Germany’s largest newspaper and a Facebook Connect site, implemented this feature and now their site and Facebook Connect features both appear in German, and their users can enjoy a seamless and consistent user experience.”
As a consequence, Facebook users will see the Facebook Connect content in the language specified by the site owner. The localization of Facebook Connect in your desired language can be performed in a simple manner, by adding the corresponding Facebook locale to the FeatureLoader script, as shown in the article published on Facebook Developer blog:
