Twitter’s New Front Page Groups Search And Trending Topics
Many of you could be Twitter users for a long time now, and your browser cookies determine an automatic login process to the Twitter account main page. By going to the main Twitter page, the existing users who will sign out from Twitter for a few moments and the new ones (Internet users without a Twitter account) will be pleased to see the newly redesigned Twitter front page. Now, it has the Twitter Search feature and trending topics on the same graphical user interface.
Biz Stone, the Co-founder of Twitter, Inc. considers that new Twitter users could find out more about the capabilities of the microblogging service by quickly testing its powerful features represented by the search results and hot topics rendered in real time.
“Defining a “tweet” for the uninitiated and explaining how to create an account doesn’t resonate with everyone. “Why would I want to do that?” is a common reaction. However, demonstrating the power of Twitter as a discovery engine for what is happening right now through our Search and Trends often awakens a sense of wonder which inevitably leads to a much more compelling question, “How do I get involved?””, explained Biz Stone, the Co-founder of Twitter, Inc. in a post published on Twitter Official blog.
The popularity of certain words or phrases contained in tweets is defined after a ranking process which takes place in real time. On the new Twitter front page, the popular topics displayed are classified according to three time lines: by minute, by day and by week.
When the user clicks on a link corresponding to a Twitter hot topic, the related tweets are displayed in no time, as well as in the case when a certain keyword is searched based on the Twitter Search feature.
From a rudimentary social networking service, Twitter has grown up to a reference communication platform across Internet worldwide. The new Twitter front page is focused to determine new users to rapidly discover the advantages of the microblogging service and to extend the current Twitter audience.
