Microsoft Security Essentials: Free Real Time Protection Even For Old PCs
Microsoft Corporation has just released Microsoft Security Essentials, a new and free anti-malware service which provides real time protection for modern computers equipped with Windows 7 operating system, but in the same time it is compatible with older PCs with a CPU of only 500 MHz running Windows XP SP2. Microsoft Security Essentials provides comprehensive malware protection against viruses, spyware and other malicious software.
Microsoft Security Essentials is the first Microsoft security product based on the new Dynamic Signature Service, a technology that provides the most current virus definitions without making users to wait for the next scheduled download.
In a recent Microsoft press release, Amy Barzdukas, general manager for consumer security at Microsoft explains the advantages of Microsoft Security Essentials as a free high quality security product:
“Consumers have told us that they want the protection of real-time security software but we know that too many are either unwilling or unable to pay for it, and so end up unprotected . With Microsoft Security Essentials, consumers can get high-quality protection that is easy to get and easy to use — and it won’t get in their way.”
Microsoft Security Essentials runs only on genuine Windows-based PCs in background and alerts users only when there is an action for them to take.
The application does not use a high amount of system resources, like memory (RAM) and CPU, therefore this computer security solution will not affect the overall system performance visibly.
Microsoft Security Essentials is available for free download from Microsoft website for Windows XP SP2 or SP3, Windows Vista and Windows 7 including Windows XP mode on both x32 and x64 PCs.
