Google Dashboard Knows All Your Secrets
If you are connected to your Google account and surf the web, Google stores certain private data related to your browsing actions, such as search history, email, YouTube videos watched and more. Google was always concerned about users data security and privacy and in order to ensure the transparency of stored data related to your Google account, a new service was just launched - Google Dashboard. It provides a simple method to view and better control your private data stored by Google.
Practically, Google Dashboard organizes in a single location the data related to the Google products used by you. For example, Google Dashboard reveals the number of email messages from Gmail Inbox, IGoogle gadgets installed, Friend Connect history, Blogger blogs and more.
In case of certain Google services, you might have to grant the permission to Google to store data associated with your profile.
According to TechCrunch, the details of every particular data have their own repository and the data is perfectly safe because the data is just displayed in your web browser and not returned on server side in a second database.
In a recent post published on Google Official Blog, Marissa Mayer, VP of Search Products and User Experience explains the main features of Google Dashboard:
“Designed to be simple and useful, the Dashboard summarizes data for each product that you use (when signed in to your account) and provides you direct links to control your personal settings. Today, the Dashboard covers more than 20 products and services, including Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Web History, Orkut, YouTube, Picasa, Talk, Reader, Alerts, Latitude and many more.”
In conclusion, Google Dashboard “knows” all of your secrets related to a part of your online activities. On the other hand, Google Dashboard allows you to have more control over your private data stored into your Google account.
