Google App Engine, the cloud computing platform which allows the building of web based applications on Google’s infrastructure, now has support for Java language. In addition, the developers are allowed to create AJAX web applications in Java with the help of the new Google Web Toolkit and a Google Plugin for Eclipse.
As a Gmail user, I can say that Gmail Labs helped me to better organize the way in which the inbox messages are managed, all the frequently published Labs experiments being of a real help in optimizing the overall workflow. Now Google provides the same Gmail Labs features and experiments in all Gmail supported languages, such as Simplified Chinese, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Romanian and more.

In the same time, on the Alexa front page, there is shown a list of hottest URLs existing currently on the web, the list being updated every five minutes.
You may not believe, but it is true: Ubuntu 8.04 - the Hardy Heron, released in April 2008 can be mixed with the Windows XP operating system, without the need to install anything. The result is obvious: the native performance of an Ubuntu Linux distribution obtained on top of Windows XP desktop. Practically, the Ubuntu Linux and Windows coexist on the same computer by sharing the same desktop. The users are able to run Windows and Linux based applications in the same time, edit an existing file from both operating systems simultaneously, switch between opened Windows and Linux programs windows with the Alt+Tab shortcut and more. A new stable version of the one of the most flexible Linux distributions, Puppy Linux was just released. Puppy Linux 4.2 has almost 100 MB (99.99 MB precisely) in size, corresponding to the Standard Edition, while the Retro Edition has exactly 100 MB, these values being targeted with the purpose of keeping the distribution lightweight. Now, the users have the possibility to choose between two window managers: IceWM or JVM, while extra themes including Clearlooks Gtk+2 theme engine are also available.
