Microsoft Corporation has just released Microsoft Security Essentials, a new and free anti-malware service which provides real time protection for modern computers equipped with Windows 7 operating system, but in the same time it is compatible with older PCs with a CPU of only 500 MHz running Windows XP SP2. Approximately in a week after Windows 7 RTM was released to major OEM (original equipment manufacturers), hackers have found an innovative method to crack and activate pirated copies of the operating system. Based on a Windows 7 Ultimate OEM DVD ISO leaked on a Chinese forum, the hackers have identified the OEM-SLP (System Locked Preinstall) product key and the OEM certificate for Windows 7 RTM Ultimate. The necessary data to permanently activate Windows 7 RTM Ultimate was grabbed via boot.wim file existing on the leaked DVD ISO. (more…)

The official dates when you will be able to get Windows 7 RTM were made public on Windows 7 Team Blog by Brandon LeBlanc. The Release to Manufacturing (RTM) for Windows 7 will not be free for beta testers, unless they have a subscription to TechNet. In the same time, the product keys for Windows 7 RTM will be different than the ones released for Windows 7 Beta and the Release Candidate. ISV (Independent software vendor) and IHV (Independent hardware vendor) Partners will be the first who can obtain Windows 7 RTM from Microsoft Connect or MSDN on August 6th. (more…)

In an attempt to improve the interoperability between Windows operating system and Linux open source platform, Microsoft has released under the terms of GPL 2 license, 20000 lines of code corresponding to three Linux device drivers. The leaked version of Microsoft Office Mondo 2010 Beta 1 has the Build number 14.0.4302.1000 and can be downloaded in two flavors for 32bit, as well as 64bit platforms (the DVD ISO file size has 1.58 GB). It seems to be a major update, as compared with the latest leaked Office 2010 Technical Preview. On July 06, 2009, Microsoft has made public the existence of a severe security flaw in Internet Explorer, caused by a vulnerability discovered in Microsoft Video ActiveX Control. As a consequence, if any attacker succeeds in exploiting this security leak of Internet Explorer browser, then the user computer could be remotely controlled by the attacker, with the same access rights over the machine resources and data, as the ones corresponding to the owner.
